WHAT IS AN APOSTILLE
An apostille authenticates an official signature or seal.
An apostille is a certificate added to a U.S. document by a designated authority (a state Secretary of State or the U.S. Department of State) that confirms the document is genuine. Where the Convention applies, it generally replaces consular legalization; the recipient may still set document-specific requirements. That's what makes it the fastest path for U.S. paperwork to be recognized internationally.

Who this is for
- Individuals moving, marrying, studying, or working abroad who need U.S. records recognized there.
- Companies and HR teams sending employees abroad or registering a business overseas.
- U.S. citizens already living abroad who can't easily deal with a state office in person.
Price
Included
- Standard service from $150 per document.
- The state or federal government fee.
- Document review and submission.
- Tracked U.S. return shipping (2-day FedEx; UPS for federal documents).
Quoted separately, only if you need them
- Rush service, $295 per document, in states where we offer it.
- Online notarization, if your document needs it.
- Certified translation, from $100 per page.
- International return shipping.
- Embassy legalization steps for non-Hague countries, quoted case by case.
What you provide
- The original document: a certified copy from the issuing office, a notarized document, or the FBI report PDF for a federal apostille.
- The country where the document will be used, and any deadline you're working to.
- If you don't have a certified copy yet, you order it from the issuing office or VitalChek. We don't retrieve vital records as a standard service.
What we handle
- Confirming the right route: state apostille, federal apostille, or embassy legalization for non-Hague countries.
- Reviewing your document for the problems that commonly cause rejection before it's submitted.
- Online notarization when a document must be notarized first.
- Submitting to the correct authority, paying the government fee, tracking it, and keeping you updated.
- Returning the finished document by tracked shipping.
Timing — processing and shipping are separate
- Government processing
- Set by each state office or the U.S. Department of State, and it changes with volume.
- Our standard service
- Typically 2–4 weeks end-to-end for most states. Some states run much longer (Texas is currently about 3 months), and New York is rush-only.
- Federal documents
- Standard typically takes 5+ weeks; GFG federal rush typically takes 10–14 days. We confirm the current estimate before you pay; timelines are not guaranteed.
- Shipping
- Separate from processing. Tracked U.S. return is included; international delivery is quoted.
These are estimates, not guarantees. We confirm the current estimate for your document before you pay.
Already living abroad?
You can use the service from abroad or while still in the U.S. You can mail the original to us from overseas or have someone in the U.S. send it, sign notarized documents through online notarization, and have the finished document shipped internationally.
Why use a service instead of filing yourself?
You can always apply directly to the state or the Department of State. What you pay us for is getting it right the first time: confirming the route for your destination, catching document problems before submission, handling the forms and fees, tracking the request, and keeping you informed until it's back in your hands.
"The personal touch was very much appreciated. This is all new territory for me, so I also appreciated the explanations and level of communication during the process."
